We took Bruin and Artemis to the vet today for their annual checkups and such. Artie went first, and because he currently has another break out of milliary dermatitis, all he received was a cortisone injection with the promise of his vaccines in 10 days.

Bruin was due 3 shots and after the 2nd one, he was DONE! with the vet. He totally freaked out, jumped off the table, and burrowed away in the pet carrier, growling the entire time.
He's just like his Tall Mama. The vet got enough of the 3rd injection in him, and they are all indoor babies, so we aren't worried.

Now that we are home, the real fun has begun. The other three boys sniff the two that have been to the vet and start growling at them. Mrs. CB is one her second margarita and I am ready to take a muscle relaxer. Round 2 is on the 30th when we get to take the Twins AND! Artie (recheck). Then I get to take Fat Bastard (aka Greyson) during my much-needed vacation from work. And I wanted to bring home the little 12-week old cutie we saw at the vet's...she was gorgeous!

Other news, we do the work move on Monday and we are slowly getting packed. Also, I went to the doc a couple days ago for my back-just really bad muscle spasms this time-and she told me my lingering cough is more likely asthma rather than Teh Consumption, and that my blood pressure finally went sky-high. I may have to start using an inhaler and OMG! I have to give up salt. My margarita tasted so naked :(

Tell me something fun going on in your life.

I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone will have a story that will match taking cats to a vet. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything worse. I had a cat who'd burrow his head into the crook of my elbow, and I'm fairly certain he thought that if he couldn't see where he was, then he simply wasn't there.

On another note, my brother took his version of Fat Bastard into the vet. He opened the cage and placed the rather large beast on the table. The vet had to step out for a moment, and my brother sat in the chair, reading his book. When the vet came back, he asked where the cat was. They searched for a few moments and found him in the carrier, the carrier the cat absolutely hated. They turned it upside down, and the fat rascal hung on for dear life. It took them fifteen minutes to pry him out of the cage. So, yes, visits to the vet are adventures in themselves.

When our FB has to get his shots, he actually stands up against me like, "Mommy, pick me up NOW!!!"

Up a Tree without a Brain

My child, this morning I had to get our idiot boy, Nico, out of a tree again. He's a bit developmentally arrested because we got him from Participia's aunt, who'd kept him in a large crate most of the time and covered it with a blanket as if he were a canary. We've had to call tree service gentlemen to come to the convent three times in the past three years to get him out of various trees he's climbed up but been unable to climb down.

This time, he was in a tree that is close to the convent, not on the surrounding grounds. Participia found him last night upon returning from work. She saw his eyes flash in her headlights. There he was, about 12 feet up, and there he stayed until this morning. We got the ladder and the cat crate, and yours truly had to climb up, careful not to entangle her skirts in the rungs of the ladder, with the crate. Once I tied the crate off to the ladder with a length of nylon rope, I held the open crate up to him. He climbed in (this is old hat to him now), whereupon I enclosed him in and then lowered him down to Participia's waiting arms.

It's difficult working with such a problem child. He would strain the patience of a saint.

At least you don't have a cat sniffing your ass while you are leaned over laying the new floor...
